Jodhpur

The magnificent heritage city of Jodhpur dotted with palaces, havelis, temples and houses washed pale blue retains much of the medieval flavour and ambience reminding us of the grandeur and glory of days past. The imposing Mehrangarh Fort and within it the Phool Mahal, Sheesh Mahal and Moti Mahal are notable places worth visiting. Umaid Bhawan Palace (part of it is now a heritage hotel) and Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum exhibit the splendour of JodhpurТs royalty. If you happen to visit the city during the months of October and November, you could choose to attend polo matches that are a royal sport, the Marwar festival for an insight into royal yesteryears or the Rajasthan International Folk Festival for music and dance. A desert safari could also prove to be a wonderful experience. Jodhpur is very well connected by air, railways and road.

Sheer drive to Rajasthan: Jodhpur,Udaipur & Jaisalmer in 4 days

By

Still we had enough time so gave a thought for Udaipur now in evening. Everyone suggested for planning during food intake. Ultimately this was saving some time for us.
we wasted 20-25 mins in search of a good restaurant in city than decided that we will have food on the way .Just 10 mins later found a restaurant luckily. We were having our lunch cum dinner @ 6:30 PM. We hadnтАЩt booked our hotel anywhere in the trip so tried to book hotel in Udaipur. Another 5-6hrs journey was still pending & it was a big risk to search hotel in midnight with family. When inquired in 5-6 hotels none of a single room was available. Local contacts tried but all went in vain.
Oh GodтАж.left the luck behind!! was everyone celebrating independence day in Udaipur or everyone was utilizing this weekend with another holiday of 15th Aug. By the way it was 8 тАШo clock & we were still in Jodhpur.

Avoiding risk of late night journey & no hotel availability in Udaipur we decided to stay in Jodhpur & depart for Udaipur in early morning. It was a hotelтАЩs restaurant, got 2 rooms easily .We had enough spare time now, so utilized for our party.

Ride to Rajasthan (Pune to Mount Abu) – Udaipur Sightseeing and ride to Abu

By

To our surprises, our machines would not reach even 80 kmph тАж.

The First Goof-up
We stopped on the highway, and all of us looked at each other with pale faces тАж тАЬMy bike is not reaching 80 at full throttle тАж said Ayush. I seconded him and saidтАжI am also not able to go above 80 with full throttle тАж we turned to the pulsars and they had the same problem тАж. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!

We realized that the workshops we had visited have shown all their Engineering on our bikes and probably changed the tuning of the bikes.

Now what to do at 8:30 am on the highway !!! Our savior was Ayush тАж the man and the machine aka Sabu !!! we parked the bikes on the highway and took out the toolkits тАж and we started to check the idling and the tuning тАж for the people who understand the bike basics тАж the tuning which normally should be 3-4 rounds in Royal Enfield and 5-7 rounds in Pulsar was way off the mark тАж and the idling was also changed. ThatтАЩs why the Petrol oil ratio going into the engine was not good and hence the bikes not picking speed and acceleration was very poor.

Jodhpur->Jaisalmer->Bikaner in 5 days : Part-1

Since quite some time I have been thinking тАЬwhat an amazing experience it will be drive through the Rajasthan deserts and barren landsтАЭ. I have only seen those in movies but to do it on my own is something I have always been dreaming for. Unfortunately because of our professional life, it is not always an easy job to plan such kind of trips. But then you get a chance and you have to reap the advantages then and there on. Exactly that is what I did, and made a quick plan of visiting Jodhpur, Jaisalmer during the republic day leave on 2012. Took two additional days leave and planned the whole trip. And as we found out later, it was not a bad decision at all. HereтАЩs a small description on the entire trip that I had and I hope this will be really helpful to those who are actually planning for such trips. Although 5 days is a bit tight for visiting these places, I tried to cover the maximum things that can be visited within this schedule.

Kesaria Balam Padharo Mhare Desh- A Journey through the majestic “Blue City”, Jodhpur

By

The grandeur of the city is difficult to baroque in words, the wide roads, the glimpse of the unique architecture, the hospitality of people; everything is entrancing to transport one back to the ancient Rajput era. The popular song, “Kesaria balam padharo mare desh….” epitomizes the true spirit of the people of Jodhpur who inspite of being proud of their lineage and cultural heritage welcome everyone to their city with an equal amount of humility and love.
